The tax is collected by the accommodation and then paid to the municipality. It is payable regardless of the type of accommodation chosen: hotel, campsite, tourist residence, bed and breakfast or furnished accommodation in a private home. It is a contribution from tourists to the expenses incurred by the commune to welcome them: facilities, equipment, signposting, etc. and the running of the Tourist Office.
