What is the tourist tax?

Like many tourist destinations, the city of Villeneuve-Loubet, classified as a tourist resort, has instituted a tourist tax, the amount of which, fixed annually, varies according to the category of accommodation. The tax is collected by the accommodation and then paid to the municipality. It is payable regardless of the type of accommodation chosen: hotel, campsite, tourist residence, bed and breakfast or furnished accommodation in a private home. It is a contribution from tourists to the expenses incurred by the commune to welcome them: facilities, equipment, signposting, etc. and the running of the Tourist Office.
